What to know about semaglutide weight loss

Weight-loss drugs have always been popular. More lately, there has been an extraordinary emphasis on novel weight reduction medications using the same active ingredient: semaglutide. This glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist is the active element in the majority of weight-loss injectable therapies, many of which have become household names thanks to several celebrities spreading the word that it helped them lose weight.

The United States Food and Drug Administration has authorized medications containing semaglutide to treat Type 2 diabetes and facilitate weight reduction and control. Additionally, the FDA has licensed some of these medications to help patients with diabetes or obesity reduce their risk of heart disease and other cardiovascular events.
